In My Fathers House
Whether you are a young girl hoping to marry someday or an older girl who feels that your prince charming is long overdue, this book will provide encouragement, inspiration, and practical wisdom. No young woman today should be "just waiting" to be married. The godly woman has much to do even while single. These essays from past generations will broaden your definition of godly womanhood, something which encompasses more than having a ring on your finger and a baby in your arms.
"The home daughter who is not discontented with her lot, but on the contrary who is willing to accept her household, her people and her quiet post of service as the one God meant for her, will not find time hanging heavily on her hands. There is much room for tillage in the home vineyard...Surely the home-daughter need not fear to magnify her place of honor in God's world." (p. 26)
"Not all at once, or merely by the wishing it does the woman in whom the heart of the husband can safely trust spring into existence. The formation of such a character will be the growth of a life-time. And today, my younger sisters, you are beautifying the character or defacing it, building it up or destroying it. Which is it to be?" (p.226)
"Do not, we beseech you, be satisfied to vegetate when you are called upon to live. Do not be content to take a low standard of life. Aim high. Be a living force for good in the world. Inspire by your own earnest, faithful life, the lives about you, and in your daily weakness and need remember Him who stands ever by your side to give you grace sufficient." (p226)
"The path of a good woman is indeed strewn with flowers; but they rise behind her steps, not before them. Her feet have touched the meadows and left the daisies rosy." (p.169)
